Auburn football officially announces the signing of a great player

Caleb Cunningham, a 5-star class of 2025 wide receiver, has committed to Alabama over contenders Auburn, Mississippi State and Ole Miss.

Hayes Fawcett of On3 broke the news

Cunningham is a 6’1″, 190-pound wideout from Choctaw County High School in Ackerman, Mississippi. He is ranked second among wide receivers and 13th overall on the latest 247Sports Composite list of class of 2025 prospects.

Cunningham is a three-sport star who also participates in basketball and track-and-field. He dominated the gridiron last year, catching 48 passes for 1,138 yards and 14 touchdowns.

Cunningham is the third 5-star prospect in Alabama’s Class of 2025, which ranks second overall in college football per 247Sports. The other 5-star recruits are quarterback Keelon Russell and cornerback Dijon Lee.

Ultimately, Cunningham’s commitment to Alabama is no surprise given his comments to Andrew Bone of BamaOnline after his official visit to Tuscaloosa.

“Oh man, Bama is No. 1. They’re No. 1, for sure,” Cunningham said. “Why not Bama? They have the resources that I need. It’s a great place for me to be developed, to get to the next level for my position as a receiver. They’re going to develop.”

Alabama has a great reputation for developing wide receivers en route to the pros, with examples including Julio Jones, Amari Cooper, DeVonta Smith, Jaylen Waddle and Calvin Ridley.

Adding Cunningham is also a huge win for head coach Kalen DeBoer as he looks to make his stamp on the Alabama program after taking over for seven-time national champion Nick Saban.
