About the best and worst banks in the UK

There’re several financial consumer surveys. But the Ipsos remain undisputed because of building a regulatory requirement from the Competition and Markets Authority.  As simple as its! They often ask customer service whether they’d recommend their banks to family or friends.

Typically, customers' answers indicate how the banks have been performing for the past 6 months. That means this survey carries more weight. Plus, their findings have particular predictability.

As mentioned earlier, Nationwide, Starling, First Direct, Monzo, and Metro Bank appear the top five worst bank accounts in the UK.  Although we don’t have access to Ipsos data, it’s no surprise that the same banks are listed by their customers. However, these banks have optimized customer support to achieve greatness in their endeavors.

Other banks have incredible customer care.  For instance, First Direct has been listed as number 3 or 4 in almost each service survey over the past 20 years.  On the other hand, Metro Bank scores highly for in-store service. So, it’s essential to consider the Ipsos survey when looking for the best banks in the UK.

The worst UK banks for customer service: TSB, RBS, Virgin

The TSB and Virgin Money banks are ranked as the worst banks in the UK. That's nearly correct but not certain. The worst lending bank for the past 6 months is Virgin Money and Royal Bank of Scotland and TSB ranked the next worst. However, there's a separate ranking for online and mobile banking. In the same survey, we were not surprised when Virgin Money appear at the bottom, 16th of the 16 banks.

The best and worst UK banking apps

It’s not a surprise that Virgin Money ranked at the bottom of the survey. We speak confidence from the previous experience of the past seven months. There’s a customer who closed his Virgin Money credit card account and even worse uninstalled the app. According to him, swapping an Amex card for Virgin Money was the worst decision made regarding the banking option.

Virgin Money service

Virgin Money glanced at the August 2020 survey. That survey ranked Virgin Money the 9th against other banks. Some banks like Virgin Money, Clydesdale Bank, and Yorkshire rebrand themselves.  Its customer support has taken important measures following the rebrand.  The best advice I can give you about Virgin Money customer care is to write off a good 30 minutes on a better day.

Monzo and Starling rank the top online and mobile banking options. The LBG's three banking options include Bank of Scotland, Halifax, and Lloyds rank in the top half dozen and perform perfectly.
