Steve Evans has strongly suggested that some of the players he inherited upon his return to Rotherham United may be heading out of the AESSEAL New York Stadium. His second stint at the club hasn’t gone as expected, with a summer of recruitment following his appointment in April — during the latter part of the team’s relegation campaign — failing to spark the anticipated push for promotion from League One.

The latest blow came with a 2-0 loss to derby rivals Barnsley, leaving Evans under increasing pressure due to the team’s disappointing performances and their current 14th-place standing.

In the post-match press conference, Evans was asked about the presence of “big names” on the pitch, despite the absence of key players like Jonson Clarke-Harris, Mallik Wilks, and Jamie McCarty due to injury.
