Metallica is in the midst of a very special week in America. Their self-titled recording is celebrating reaching a momentous milestone on the most important albums chart in the country. As it makes history, the project has also become a bestseller all over again.
The band’s self-titled affair returns to the Top Album Sales chart this week. The bestseller reappears at No. 50 on the list of the top-selling full-lengths and EPs in the nation. That means Metallica settles for last place, but they had to climb to even land there, so that placement is a win.

Metallica sold a little more than 2,000 copies in the past tracking period, according to Luminate. That’s actually down from last week, when it sold nearly 2,300 copies. A drop of nearly 10% in purchases wouldn’t normally spur a title back onto the Top Album Sales chart, but it’s a fairly quiet frame for sales in the U.S.
