Texas will give Arch Manning the starting position this week as Quinn Ewers continues his recovery from injury.

With quarterback Quinn Ewers recovering from an abdominal strain sustained during Texas’s 56–7 victory over UTSA on Saturday, the Longhorns will rely on his backup for this week’s game against Louisiana-Monroe.

Coach Steve Sarkisian announced Thursday morning that Arch Manning will be the starting quarterback for Texas against the Warhawks.

Manning, 19, had an impressive performance when he entered the game against the Roadrunners, completing nine of twelve passes for an incredible 223 yards and four touchdowns, in addition to rushing three times for 53 yards and a touchdown.

As a result of this performance, the Longhorns moved ahead of Georgia in the AP Poll, making them the No. 1 team in the nation for the first time since 2008.
